According to the published findings, the aim of the research was to inquire if the ingestion of tart cherry juice concentrate would help with sleep quality.
The method used for the study was a double-blind, placebo-controlled group that included 20 volunteers. During a 7-day period the participants consumed either the actual cherry juice concentrate or a placebo. Each was asked to maintain a
sleep quality recording of their experience and also provide a urine sample to determine the amount of melatonin being excreted from the body.
The results of the test indicated the total melatonin level was significantly elevated in the cherry juice group, while no evaluated amount was recorded in the placebo group. In addition, the cherry group also experienced increased time in bed with improved total sleep time and sleep efficiency.
The conclusion of the testing suggests the consumption of tart cherry juice concentrate is an excellent way to maintain healthy sleep patterns in healthy men and women.
